Monroe Schools trimming at the top

MONROE — Three executive positions in the school district are being cut because of budget reductions.

Chief Academic Officer Kim Whitworth, who once served as Monroe’s interim superintendent, and director of Categorical Program and Elementary Education Chris Cronas found their jobs eliminated and are leaving the district June 30, according to a human resources report.

Executive Director of Support Services Victor Scarpelli is retiring, and the position won’t be replaced, district spokeswoman Erin Zacharda said.

Reducing these positions saves the district $815,351 in salaries and benefits, Zacharda said.

The district was operating with seven directors in its organization chart this year.

Its future organization chart is not prepared yet, Zacharda said.
