Everett looking at stronger tenants' rights laws, local rental registry

EVERETT — Members of the City Council have been discussing creating a registry program for all of the city’s rental properties, part of a larger policy package that would expand the rights of local tenants. The Rental Registration Program, if enacted, will require landlords to obtain a city license for each of their owned properties. The license will need to be renewed annually, and the process of renewal instructs landlords to complete a health and safety checklist.
