Inspire Congressional leaders to act for people’s needs on food instability

FOOD INSTABILITY

To the Editor:

Recent program cuts along with increasing need are challenging food banks in the county and across the country (story in April 30 Tribune). It all results in more hunger, hurting farmers in the process, as their crops are no longer in demand.  Couple this with the threats to the SNAP program (food stamps) and the world’s wealthiest country is facing skyrocketing hunger.

We can help our hard working Senators Murray and Cantwell, and Reps. Larsen and DelBene who are fighting against this with encouragement and personal stories of this crisis.  The more of us who call 202-224-3121, email, and visit them, the more evidence they have to convince the Senate and the House to take action. Our voices matter. It is time to end the crisis of hunger.
