From live performances and local food, to art, education and activities, every member of the community is encouraged to reflect on the meaning of Juneteenth while celebrating unity and resilience.
Juneteenth commemorates the day enslaved people in Texas were informed of their freedom on June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, officially ending slavery in the United States. In 2021, former President Joe Biden signed off on recognizing June 19 as a federal holiday.
