SNOHOMISH — An advisory committee about First Street Master Plan begins meeting this month, according to city sources.
The committee’s public meetings will be on the third Wednesday of the month from 6-8 p.m. in the Carnegie Building, 105 Cedar St. as well as remotely on Zoom.
The committee is anticipated to spend about six months discussing what is important for First Street’s future layout of its parking, crosswalks and other needs. The committee was developed after a series of First Street meetings.
Underpinning the First Street plan is a need to replace the sewer and water pipes underneath First Street. These are considered overdue for replacement. The city has had to do emergency repairs on these pipes in the past.
The City Council was expected to ratify the mayor’s appointment selections at its June 3 meeting after press time. A majority of the committee members are Snohomish business owners and city residents.
A frequently asked questions list is on the city project webpage at www.snohomishwa.gov/858/First-Street-Master-Plan
The city also will have a booth at the Snohomish Farmers Market on most Thursdays to answer questions.
The city anticipates it will need to get state or federal grant funding to construct anything.
