MONROE — The city is doing a survey asking the broader Sky Valley public on its views of the community and its needs. Those needs include affording the costs of housing, difficulties in accessing public health services and other elements of life.
Some of the questions, for example, ask for opinions on whether there is good local health care, whether the area feels safe and whether it is a good place to grow old.
It also anonymously asks about people’s living situations, household sizes and how much that the cost of housing consumes their budget.
It asks whether people have faced difficulties paying for food, heat and other needs, and also what income-related challenges the survey taker has faced.

The city calls it the Community Needs Assessment. It says the survey will take 15 minutes.
Monroe plans to use the survey to inform itself on the community’s needs today, and develop plans to address gaps in needs and other solutions.
The survey is open until July 18.
