The field enters Lake Tye for the start of the Mens’ 49 and Under Group during the USTA-sanctioned 15th Lake Tye Triathlon on Saturday morning Aug. 3, in Monroe. The full race consisted of a 1,500-meter swim in the lake, 27 mile bike race and 6.2-mile run. The overall first place winner, with a combined “Swim / Bike / Run” time of 2:12:01.9 was Leighton Overson, age 45, from Sedro Woolley. Second place was Jeremy Kalmus, age 36, from Bellevue at 2:15:11.4 and third place at 2:17:12.1 was Scott Hippe, age 35 from Chelan.
The event’s founder and race director Lisa Worthington said it was the Lake Tye Tri’s biggest-ever field with more than 600 athletes participating.
