Dale H. Deierling

Dale H. Deierling passed away on May 19, 2025, at the age of 95. He was born August 21, 1929, in Snohomish, Washington, to Eric A. C. and Alice F. (Hoglund) Deierling and remained a lifelong Snohomish resident. He often shared wonderful stories of his boyhood adventures, family outdoor trips and the history of his Fobes Hill neighborhood. He graduated from Snohomish High School in 1947. Dale was very active in the community and donated many hours to numerous organizations, often serving in leadership roles. Those close to his heart were the Snohomish Lions, Sons of Norway/Normanna Park, Everett Elks, Order of Red Men, and the Snohomish Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was the last surviving founding member of the Cross Valley Water Association (later District), where he served as an elected Commissioner, and was also a founding member of the Snohomish Affordable Housing Group. Mary Pat Larsen

Mary Patricia (Goldstone) Larsen, born March 17, 1944, in Everett, Washington, to Herbert Eugene and Helen Ann (Shaffer) Goldstone, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2025. Mary Pat attended the University of Washington, where she studied mathematics and Slavic languages. During a study abroad program in Yugoslavia, she became proficient in Serbo-Croatian—one of five non-English languages she would learn—and formed international friendships that lasted throughout her life. While abroad, she corresponded with Lawrence Harold Larsen, a professor in the University of Washington’s Department of Oceanography. They married soon after and made Seattle their home, where Larry taught and Mary Pat balanced work with raising their children. As her children grew, Mary Pat earned a master’s degree in Biostatistics and worked for King County’s Department of Emergency Services, contributing to studies on heart attack survival rates based on emergency response times. Ada (Dale) Waki Nahoopii

“The River ran its allotted span, till it reached the shining sea.” Ada Dale (Waki) Nahoopii was born on January 17, 1959, in Lexington, Kentucky. Weighing just four pounds at birth, her innate tenacity to survive became her lifelong superpower. To escape an abusive marriage, Ada’s mother took her and her three siblings as far from the South as possible—Hawai‘i. Her mother remarried a kind and gentle Hawaiian man, and Ada was enrolled in Catholic school, where she developed a deep faith—along with a penchant for juvenile mischief. Each night, Ada would kneel beside her bed, hands clasped in prayer, apologizing to God for her sins. Memories of Ada live on in conversations. “She was tough, funny, but good-hearted,” former classmates recall. In 1974, the family relocated to Washington State. There, Ada began to thrive. Clara Jean (Morden) Heirman

Clara Jean (Morden) Heirman, who lived her life with grit and determination, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025 surrounded by family, after a brave battle against extended illness. She was 89. Clara was born February 1, 1936 in Spearfish, SD to Alvin and Lillian Morden. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Joseph Heirman (84), on April 29, 2017. Clara is survived by her children including Robin Devon (Mike), Jo Morken (Rob), Sandee Garcia (her dog Buddy), Craig Marker (Keith), and Erin Aber (Bill.) She had 14 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters (out of 13 in total), Anita Guenther (Otto) and Gail Berndt (Gary), and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 22nd, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Snohomish. Following the service will be a Celebration of Life Party at the …

Ted Worth Ren

Ted Worth Ren, 92, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, in Snohomish, Washington. Born on December 15, 1932, in Everett, Washington, Ted lived a full and accomplished life marked by service, innovation, and deep devotion to those he held dear. Ted graduated from Snohomish High School in 1950. Shortly after graduation, he answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy. He served with honor for four years, laying the foundation for a lifetime of discipline and dedication. Following his military service, Ted began a long and successful career in engineering. He first worked at Boeing before moving on to Western Gear, where he specialized in designing large-scale machinery. His work reflected both his technical skill and his passion for building things that mattered. Ted remained with Western Gear until his retirement.
