Julie Johnson

September 27, 1960 - May 25, 2025

Julie Anne Johnson, age 64, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2025, following a courageous five-month battle with sepsis.

Born in Honolulu and raised in Kailua, Julie attended Punahou School before earning a degree in Sociology and Parks & Recreation from the University of Oregon. After college, she returned to the islands and found her calling at the YMCA, where she mentored children and made a lasting impact on countless young lives.

In 1990, Julie’s adventurous spirit led her to Bellevue, Washington, where she worked for 15 years as a Quality Assurance specialist in the telecommunications industry.

Julie was a gifted colored pencil artist, best known for her stunning pet portraits that captured the spirit and personality of each animal she drew. A nature lover at heart, she became an avid rockhound, spending weekends with her sister Lori searching for agates, crystals, and geodes. Julie’s vibrant creativity and quick wit brought joy and laughter to everyone she encountered.

Julie was preceded in death by father Fred S. Johnson, mother Carole A. Johnson, grandparents Alfred & Carita Johnson, and her aunt Judith Johnson. She is survived by her sister Lori (Keith) Peter; brother Fred (Dominique) Johnson; uncle Robert Johnson; cousins Claire (Lars and Lena) Fackler and Tucker (Lisa, Tiana, and Stone) Johnson; best friend Molly Sirois; and many beloved friends.

Julie’s vibrant energy, artistic legacy, and zest for life will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
