Everett Dick’s Drive-In opening date

EVERETT — Dick’s Drive-In has announced Thursday, June 12 for the opening date of its South Everett location near Evergreen Way and Airport Road. The ribbon cutting will take place at 10:29 a.m., the company said. It will become the northernmost Dick’s and its 10th location. The Seattle company has a 71-year history and has grown by five locations since 2011.

SharinaBean’s fundraising

MONROE — The coffee shop SharinaBean’s, which lost its lease for its shop on Main Street in April, is fund-raising to open elsewhere. It seeks $10,000. As of May 20, a GoFundMe for the shop had $645.

Imagine Children’s Museum funding restored

EVERETT — Imagine Children’s Museum cheered news received May 21 that a federal grant which supports its Little Science Lab outreach program for preschool-aged children has been reinstated by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) following a federal court order. The $250,000 grant had been terminated unexpectedly April 8. The grant is on a court decision which is at risk for appeal.

Opening on Snohomish Planning Commission

SNOHOMISH — Applicants are being sought to fill a vacancy on the city’s volunteer Planning Commission which evaluates land use issues in the city. Applications are due by 4 p.m. on Friday, June 6. “Snohomish County TV” launches

A county government-focused TV channel launched May 23 on cable TV.

Ziply subscribers can find it on channels 41 and 541, and Comcast customers on channels 22 and 322, County Executive Dave Somers said.

Jackson robotics team honored

EVERETT — Mayor Cassie Franklin honored Jackson High School’s world-title-winning robotics team, “Jack in the Bot,” at last week’s City Council meeting.

In April, the team traveled to Houston and won the FIRST Robotics World Championship. The world-beating victory happened after years of trying.

Jackson’s team showed “a leading example of what you can achieve” with collaboration and determination, the mayor said in a small speech before giving the award.
