SNOHOMISH — Rain or shine, teams of runners will spend 24 hours in a relay race on Snohomish High’s track to boost local scholarships.
The first annual Panther Run takes off at 6 p.m. Friday, June 13, and relay batons will stay in hand through to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 14.
The event honors the memories of beloved Snohomish teachers and coaches Tuck Gionet and Dave LeWarne.
LeWarne died in December. Gionet, in 2015. Both carried long legacies in Snohomish High’s halls, and both died in their 50s.
Student, adult and family teams can sign up for the relay. Camping is inside the track. The entry fees are $500 for adult teams of 10,
$350 for family teams of 10 and $250 for youth teams of 10.
The fees helps cover event costs and contributes to three scholarship funds: These are a memorial college scholarship for high school students in LeWarne’s name, a memorial scholarship in Gionet’s name and a personal character-based scholarship supported by The Travis Manion Foundation.
The money is processed through the MCJROTC Parents Association.
