Snohomish Panthers softball are 3A/2A conference champions

Snohomish Panther Avery Clark took advantage of a pass ball on a pitch to score a run as she slides across home plate while Everett Seagull pitcher Anna Luscher (6) tries to cover during action in Snohomish on Thursday. May 2. The Gulls struck early and held a lead into the late innings until the Panthers came back and tied the game up in the sixth. Neither team scored in the seventh which put the game into extra innings. A single by Emery Post in the bottom of the ninth allowed the winning run to score and gave the Panthers a 6-5 win. With the victory, the Panthers (15-5, 14-0 league as of Monday) clinched the Wesco 3A/2A title as they finished the regular season off in Monroe against the Bearcats (13-6, 11-3 league) on Monday, after press time. The Gulls (13-5, 10-3 league as of Monday) finished the regular season with games against Lynnwood and Edmonds-Woodway at the beginning of this week. Postseason action begins later this week with the District 1 3A tournament at Phil Johnson Fields in Everett. The Panthers pulled a bye in the tournament’s first round with the league title and will begin action in the quarter rounds on Tuesday, May 14.
