SNOHOMISH - The Snohomish Police Department has added a big group of new officers in recent months.
Many of the officers worked under the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office for several months, and now have transferred to the Snohomish Police Department, which is run under the sheriff’s office.
Police Chief John Flood presented the group of officers to City Council on April 15 to applause.
The newest additions bring a variety of experiences, from Sgt. Ron Doersch, a former deputy prosecutor for the Snohomish County Prosecutor’s Office, to Deputy Korede Oyetuga, a former shot put, discus and hammer throw athlete.
Mayor Karen Guzak told the officers she and the rest of city staff were grateful for their service.
“This contract position with the sheriff’s department has worked out very well for us and I think for the sheriff’s office too,” Guzak said.

Here are the newest additions to the department:
• Sergeant Brian Fenske – 16 years law enforcement experience with the sheriff’s office. He is a patrol sergeant with Snohomish Police.
• Sergeant John Adams – 18 years law enforcement experience with the sheriff’s office.
• Sergeant Ian Huri – 11 years law enforcement experience with the sheriff’s office.
• Deputy Edgar Smith –8 years law enforcement experience with the sheriff’s office.
• Deputy Ron Doersch –9 years law enforcement experience with the sheriff’s office and another 23 years experience as a prosecuting attorney for Snohomish County.
• Deputy Bryan Martin – 4 years law enforcement experience with the sheriff’s office and another 28 years law enforcement experience with the Washington State Patrol.
• Deputy Phillip James – 2 years law enforcement experience with the sheriff’s office.
• Deputy Korede Oyetuga – 2 years law enforcement experience with the sheriff’s office.
• Deputy Chad Daugherty – 2 years law enforcement experience with the sheriff’s office.
