11-time felon arrested for mall shooting
EVERETT - An Everett man with 11 felony convictions was arrested Tuesday, July 23 for firing a gun at the Macy’s at Everett Mall.
Charles F. Sprague, 26, was booked into Snohomish County Jail for robbery, assault and unlawful possession of a handgun. His bail was set at $250,000.
An Everett woman, 27, who was with Sprague at the time was later arrested by Everett police and booked into jail on robbery charges. Stephanie Boyle, also a convicted felon, had her bail set at $100,000.
Police say Sprague and Boyle fought with Macy’s loss prevention employees at about 6 p.m. as they were trying to leave the store with stolen items. Sprague fired a shot, but loss prevention employees were able to take the gun from him and detain him.
Police arrested Sprague at the scene and locked down the immediate area. Boyle got away while Sprague was being detained by police. Police later learned Boyle played an active role in the shooting incident.
Only Macy’s remained closed Tuesday as police continued their investigation.
Sprague was taken to Providence Medical Center Colby Campus for non-life threatening injuries he received during the fight with loss prevention employees.
The loss prevention employees suffered minor injuries and were released at the scene.
No customers were injured in the incident.
