City will replace vandalized play equipment soon
EVERETT - The city will soon replace the playground equipment at Garfield Park that was set on fire last month.
The park is getting an updated version of the same equipment that was installed in 2007. The replacement equipment and installation will cost up to $60,000.
The City Council is expected to approve the money for the replacement this week.
After the May 19 fire, Councilman Scott Bader asked to revisit the issue of installing security cameras in parks. The council didn’t talk about security cameras at last week’s council meeting.
The Police Department determined the fire was arson and is asking for people’s help in finding out who is responsible.
