Celeste was very active in the community. She volunteered to do the gardening for the Snohomish Historical Gardens. She worked at the Elections Department, various democratic campaigns, and the Evergreen State Fair. Celeste enjoyed baking, canning and gardening, some of which she entered in the fair.
