Marie DettlingE. Marie Dettling, a long time resident of Snohomish, passed away on December 4, 2012 in Black Mountain North Carolina.
She moved from Snohomish in 2001 to Staten Island, NY where she lived for nine years. She had recently moved to North Carolina in August 2012.
Born October 29, 1938 in Louisiana to Olaf and Lydia Shreve, Marie was the second to youngest of 12 children. She moved to Washington in 1959 and lived in Snohomish for 40 years. She was a first-class storyteller and great family historian. She could intelligently hold a conversation on almost any subject. She possessed a sharp wit, second to no one. She most certianly has left one or two great stories not to be forgotten with any one who knew her. Wherever she is, no doubt she is already telling stories.
She is survived by her three children Donnie Barth of Seattle WA, Bob Barth of Yakima WA and Angela Barth of Black Mountain NC. She is also survived by six grandchildren; Daren and Kimberly Barth of Marysville WA, Haley Lee of Edmonds WA, Anthony and Adam Barth of MA and Amy Barth of AZ. Two great-grandchildren; Dylan Bissell and Kaylee Phillips of Marysville WA.
A memorial will be held in Snohomish at a date to be determined. Please send any memorial gifts to a charitable organization of your choice.
