KellogMargaret Kellogg

Margaret (Clough) Bjorling Kellogg passed peacefully from this world on January 24th, 2013 at the age of 91. Born on September 1st, 1921 in Akiak, Alaska, Margaret (Marge) was very proud of her Athabascan native heritage and was a member of Doyon Ltd. She often shared tales of her childhood on the tundra, picking berries and having encounters with the local wildlife, and spoke of her desire to return.
Margaret lived in Monroe, WA for many years with her first husband, Carl Bjorling, where they raised their three children (Gilbert, Edith and David).
An accomplished office administrator, director, and manager, Margaret worked numerous jobs in the Pacific NW and Hawaii. Her strengths were many, and her devotion to causes she believed in was admirable. After her marriage to Carl ended, she met and married Duane (Dick) Kellogg. Their union was blessed and their companionship true through all of their endeavors together.
After Dick’s passing, Marge drew comfort from her family, friends, and social group. Being a participant and volunteer at the Snohomish Senior Center brought her tremendous joy. Those she met, assisted, interacted, and bonded with were a huge part of her latter years.
Margaret leaves her children: Gilbert Bjorling (partner Barb), Edith (Jim) Hess, and David (Sandra) Bjorling. In addition, she leaves nine grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, many of whom called her “Gigi.”
With respect for her wishes, no services will be held. Memorials may be made in her honor to the Snohomish Senior Center (360-568-0934) or to the scholarship foundation for Athabascan youth at Doyon, Ltd. (foundation@doyon.com).
