Charlene K. Boersma age 70, of Newport, Oregon died January 5, 2010 after a long battle with lung cancer. Charlene will likely be remembered as one of Safeway’s most dedicated grocery checker’s of Newport, as she worked there for over 30 years. Her passions included caring for her plants in her sunroom and her two beloved dachshunds. Charlene was preceded in death by her parents Mitchell and Bernadine Corcoran, and sister, Mary Anne Headley. She is survived by her three children: Terri Heslen of Toledo, Tracy Thackeray of Newport, and Robert Boersma of Snohomish, 8 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Private family services are scheduled for a later date at sea. Contributions in honor of Charlene may be made to hospice. Services are entrusted to Bateman Funeral Home.
