Fatal car crash on U.S. 2 near Snohomish
Snohomish Fire District 4 firefighters extinguished a fire in a pickup truck that was involved in a two-vehicle, head-on accident on U.S. Highway 2 near Snohomish shortly after 5 a.m. Monday, Jan 6. The Washington State Patrol reported that the pickup truck crossed the center line and collided head on with the car, killing the driver of the car, Wayne Shkurhan, 53, of Snohomiosh died at the scene. Fire District 4 battalion chief Craig Heike said the driver of the pickup was pulled from his vehicle by a passerby and was standing on the side of the highway when aid crews arrived. He was transported to Providence Everett Medical Center for evaluation. All lanes of U.S. 2 were closed from Highway 9 to Bickford Avenue for most of the morning, creating traffic backups in the city of Snohomish.

The Snohomish Health District’s clinics in Everett and Lynnwood are stocked full of vaccine to protect you against the flu. The cost for an adult flu shot at the Snohomish Health District is $30. A flu shot for a child costs $15. The health district accepts payment by cash, check, VISA, MasterCard, Provider One (coupons), and Medicare for clients whose primary insurance is not with an HMO. Clients may apply for a reduced fee, based on income and household size.
