112th Street SE work will cause delays
EVERETT - Drivers who use 112th Street SE may want to find alternate routes to avoid heavy construction.
The city began widening the Silver Lake area road this week.
The work is being done on 112th Street SE between Interstate 5 and the Bothell-Everett Highway.
The arterial will have frequent backups and stops through next year as crews widen the road to five lanes.
The city predicts the work will be done by June 2013, but bad weather would delay the project.
The project includes water main and storm drainage improvements, installing retaining walls and sidewalks, traffic signal improvements and repaving and re-striping of roadways including new bike lanes.
Razz Construction of Bellingham is doing the work. The City Council approved a $3.17 million contract with Razz. The project is funded by a $1.5 million Transportation Improvement Board grant, and $1.6 million in city funds.
