Alexander Farm on Ebey Island hosted the fifth annual Pumpkin Hurl and Medieval Faire Sept. 15-16. This year’s event was heavily attended as the weather was nearly perfect all weekend. The Snohomish Festival of Pumpkins continues through Oct. 31 at six Snohomish Valley farms. Festival details are at www.festivalofpumpkins.org.

All Family Dental Care in Everett held a free emergency dental care day Saturday, Sept. 15 and helped 39 people who needed cavities filled, broken teeth fixed or removed. At least 100 people showed up hoping to be seen by one of three dentists. Pictured is Kim Wilson and her boyfriend Kelly Grace. Wilson waited overnight to make sure she got in to have a broken tooth fixed.

More lane closures coming as work progresses at U.S. 2 and Bickford
SNOHOMISH - The U.S. 2 and Bickford Avenue overpass project is right on track, project engineer Mark Sawyer said last week.
The $22.4 million state Department of Transportation project will build an overpass and ramp that will take drivers over the highway rather than across it to safely merge onto westbound U.S. 2, changing it from an at-grade crossing to a grade-separated crossing.
