U.S. Gymnastics Team’s Jordyn Wieber, 16, of DeWitt, Mich., performs on the balance beam Friday, March 16 during the Pacific Rim Championships at Comcast Arena in Everett. Olympic hopefuls from 17 countries participated in the weekend event. While many of the athletes participating in the event will not be attending the Summer Olympics in London, several will be, including Wieber. After the final competition, the U.S. finished with an event high 13 medals with China coming in second with six medals. The event drew over 20,000 fans to Comcast Arena during the three days of competition, while Friday night’s women’s competition was televised nationally the following day on NBC.

City to install water meters in north Everett
EVERETT - The city will be installing residential water meters soon.
About 12,500 residents, mostly in north Everett, are not on a meter and pay a monthly flat rate for water. The city will begin installing meters across the city in June to comply with state environmental regulations that go into effect in 2017.

City Council to consider forming transportation district
MONROE - After keeping the idea on the back-burner for years, the city may establish a Transportation Benefit District (TBD) in order to raise funds for street improvements and maintenance.
A public hearing is scheduled for 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 10 at City Council.

FirstAir owner makes case for rezone before Planning Commission
MONROE - The owner of FirstAir Field wants to sell the airport but first wants to change the zoning on the airport and surrounding properties so non-aviation uses can be built on those properties.
Owner Daryl Habich visited the Planning Commission meeting last week as the commission works on defining the land use for the airport.
