Snohomish Co-op Chick Days March 16-18With all the wild weather we have experienced, from flooding to snow, the anticipation of spring is arriving in Snohomish this weekend. The sound of peeping chicks will soon fill the Snohomish Co-op during its Annual Chick Days Event. This weekend, March 16-18, over 1,000 baby chickens will fill the store. There will be over 14 different varieties of laying chicks to choose from as well as some baby ducklings. You will find more common breeds like Rhode Island Reds or something a little more fun like Americana’s that lay green eggs. If you can’t find the breed you’re looking for, the Co-op can special order chicks, ducks, geese, turkeys or even guineas. Backyard chickens have become more and more popular over the last several years. People are finding out that chickens not only provide you with fresh eggs but their unique personalities provide enjoyment as well. Not only will you be able to find a great selection of chicks this weekend, but you will also find all your chicken supply needs. New to the Co-op this year will be the availability to rent the Featherman Poultry Processing Machine. The Snohomish Co-op has partnered with Northwest Agriculture Business Center (NABC) in Mount Vernon to provide this unique service to people looking to process their own home grown chickens. The equipment will be on display in the store this weekend and a representative from NABC will be on hand Saturday, March 17 to answer any questions regarding rental or how the processor works. If you’re interested in being a new chicken owner or if you’re looking to add something fun and different to your flock, stop in and take a look around! The Snohomish Co-op is located at 168 Lincoln in Snohomish. |

This year’s event was moved to Wine Cellars of Washington’s tasting room where just over 400 guests sampled wines and spirits from 18 local wineries and two distilleries. The majority of the wineries featured this year were from Snohomish County. |
