Sam Low re-elected to County Council

SNOHOMISH COUNTY — Voters largely stuck with County Councilman Sam Low to give him a full, four-year term.
Low won 57 percent of the vote over challenger Kristin Kelly. The former Lake Stevens councilman won election to the position last year, but had to run again tor a four-year term. The prior election was to fill out the remainder of Councilman Dave Somers’ term.
District 5 spans across central and east county, encompassing Lake Stevens, Snohomish, Monroe and up the Sky Valley. Within it are four major highways and swaths of rural land. More than 150,000 of the county’s 750,000-plus people live in this district.
Elsewhere in the county, Councilmen Terry Ryan and Nate Nehring won re-election. The council makeup stays static at three Democrats and two Republicans.
