Public comment period ends Oct. 31 on proposed 25 cents bus fare increase
EVERETT - This week Everett Transit will hold a public hearing on a 25-cent fare increase before the City Council.
The agency is proposing an across the board fare increase effective Jan. 1. The council has final say on fares.
If fares go up, seniors would pay 25 cents, youths 75 cents and adults $1. The agency has not raised fares since 2009.
The public hearing will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3 at City Council Chambers, 3002 Wetmore Ave.
There will be a public comment period through Wednesday, Oct. 31, when the City Council will be expected to vote on the increase. People can e-mail comments to Everett Transit to ETMail@ci.everett.wa.us.
There also will be a public meeting on the fare increase 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11 in the Dan Snow Room at Everett Station.
Everett Transit cut 15 percent of its bus services Aug. 26 because of revenue drops.
