Fabulously Frugal Thrift Shop opens June 15
SNOHOMISH - Fabulously Frugal Thrift Shop, a retail enterprise supporting Snohomish Senior Center programs, announces its grand opening Friday, June 15 through Sunday, June 17. There will be special discounts throughout the store all weekend. On Saturday, June 16 at 1 p.m., there will be a special toast led by Mayor Karen Guzak welcoming the store to Snohomish. Everyone is invited to enjoy punch and cake.
Clothing, furniture, household goods and books are just a sampling of the “fabulous” variety of merchandise you will find. Although not yet open, be sure to stop at The Hub Café during your next visit. It’s located right inside the thrift store. The Hub Cafe will offer tasty snacks and beverages, including the senior center’s famous strawberry shortcake.
“A traditional thrift shop is a great addition to the shopping choices for Snohomish residents and visitors,” said Debbie Emge, economic development manager for the city of Snohomish. “The community is already showing tremendous support for the store.”
Located at 611 Second St. (former location of Uppercase Books & Collectibles), the shop is run by dedicated volunteers led by store manager Shirley Mock. All proceeds will directly benefit the 600-plus members who actively utilize the senior center and the 60 programs involving 85 sessions offered monthly. This enhances the quality of life for every single person who comes through the center’s doors, who participate in cognitive games, physical activities, nutritious lunches, and enjoy a safe secure social environment to help keep mind and body moving.
Bob Dvorak, the center’s executive director, expressed his enthusiasm over the project: “We are excited to finally realize a goal that the senior center has discussed for a long time. With the opening of the Fabulously Frugal Thrift Shop, we will insure a steady income stream which will help us to budget what we envision and want the center to grow into. Our deepest thanks to the community, who already have and will support this venture in the future.”
The thrift shop is open Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday noon to 4 p.m.; and closed Monday. Donations are accepted during these hours.
