Everett Animal Shelter hosts Shakaroo Feb. 3
A benefit for animals EVERETT - Some fundraisers can be very formal. Shakaroo isn’t one of those kind of fundraisers.
Starring local band Nigel Mustafa, Oly’s Dance Studio and featuring a “Pooch Pageant,” Shakaroo hopes to have you dancing in the aisles and possibly taking home a pet … if one of those pretty pooches catches your eye.
Everett Animal Shelter’s first-ever annual fundraiser is all about having a good time and happens at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3 at the Everett Performing Arts Center, 2710 Wetmore Ave. Tickets are just $15. Donations will be accepted inside.
Tickets are on sale now or can be purchased at the door. So far, the shelter has sold 140. The venue can hold 500, so “there’s still a lot of room,” shelter manager Shannon Delgado said.
Delgado said the shelter will be pleased if it raises $10,000 through ticket sales and sponsors.
All proceeds will go directly to animal care, such as buying food and toy items that keep the dogs calm and stable in their kennels as they wait to be adopted or returned to their owners.
To buy tickets, stop by the animal shelter at 333 Smith Island Road, call 425-257-6040 or e-mail shakaroo@ci.everett.wa.us.
